2017 Summer Food Service Program Announced

HAGERSTOWN, MD (May 31, 2017) – The Food and Nutrition Services office of Washington County Public Schools (WCPS) announces its summer meal schedule and sites, and the schedule for the Meal Machine. WCPS is operating six vehicles in the Meal Machine program this spring and summer, providing free meals for anyone 18 years of age and younger Monday through Friday from June 5 through August 25. Meal Machine times and locations are as follows:

Williamsport High's Jathan Mentzer Wins State Trig-Star Competition and Qualifies for Nationals

Hagerstown, MD (May 24, 2017) – Jathan Mentzer, a junior at Williamsport High School, earned the opportunity to compete in the National Trig-Star competition by placing first at the school, county and state levels. The Trig-Star Program is an annual mathematics competition and national test, promoting the study of trigonometry in high schools and acquainting high school math students with the practical application of trigonometry.

Annual Career Technology Education Awards

Hagerstown, MD (May 15, 2017) - The 33rd Annual Awards of Excellence in Career Technology Education, a partnership between Washington County Public Schools (WCPS) and Kaplan University, were be presented on Monday, May 15, 2017 at North Hagerstown High School. WCPS career technology education (CTE) teachers have nominated 61 students for recognition as the outstanding student in a specific CTE program.

County Nominating Committee Seeks Interested Individuals for Vacant BOE Seat

Fundraising Policy Up for Public Comment

Hagerstown, MD (May 10, 2017) - The Washington County Board of Education (BOE) is offering the opportunity for public comment on changes to the policy governing fundraising in school-sponsored activities. The BOE's Policy Committee has agreed to create three separate and distinct policies: JJE (School-Based/Student Organization Fundraising Activities), KB (Incorporated Organization Fundraising Activities) and KBA (Unincorporated Organization Fundraising Activities).

Student Academic Achievement to Be Recognized at 2017 Celebration of Excellence on May 10

HAGERSTOWN, MD (May 8, 2017) – The 2017 Celebration of Excellence will be held at North Hagerstown High School on Wednesday, May 10 at 7:30 p.m. A dessert reception will for the students and their guests will precede the program at 6:30 p.m. Students who have achieved a 3.7 grade point average (GPA) or higher through the first semester of their senior year will be recognized.
