HAGERSTOWN, MD (November 6, 2017) – Students from Boonsboro, North Hagerstown, Smithsburg, South Hagerstown and Williamsport high schools will participate in the We the People: The Citizen and the Constitution annual Simulated Congressional Hearing Competition on Tuesday, November 14, 2017 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event will be held at Maugansville Bible Brethren Church.
WCPS Expanding Pre-Kindergarten Programs
HAGERSTOWN, MD (October 3, 2017) – Washington County Public Schools (WCPS) is creating full-day pre-kindergarten access for 20 students at Emma K. Doub School for Integrated Arts and Technology, 20 more students at Lincolnshire Elementary School, and is expanding the pre-kindergarten program for 40 students at Williamsport Elementary School from half-day to full-day. The changes at Emma K. Doub and Lincolnshire will occur on October 23 and the change at Williamsport Elementary takes place on October 24.
BOE Seeking Public Comment on Proposed Changes to School Meals Policy; Deadline for Public Comment Extended
Hagerstown, MD (October 12, 2017) - The Washington County Board of Education (BOE), at its September 12, 2017 business meeting, approved the first reading of proposed changes to Policy EFEA, entitled “Local Funding of School Lunch,” and the first reading to rescind Policy EFF, entitled “School Lunch – Breakfast Program.” The BOE's Policy Committee is seeking comments from the community at this time on the proposed changes, which are available for download under Documents to the right of this page.
BOE Votes to Approve Negotiated Agreements

41st Annual Showcase of Marching Bands on October 3 at South High
HAGERSTOWN, MD (September 26, 2017) – Washington County Public Schools (WCPS) presents the 41st Annual Showcase of Marching Bands on Tuesday, October 3, 2017, at 7 p.m. at South Hagerstown High School. The Boonsboro High School “Warrior” Band will serve as the host band and will be joined by the marching bands from Clear Spring, North Hagerstown, Smithsburg, South Hagerstown and Williamsport high schools. Each band will present an individual performance, followed by a selection performed by a mass band conducted by Boonsboro High band director Micah Socks.
Washington County Educational Support Personnel and Washington County Teachers Association Ratify Employee Negotiated Agreements
HAGERSTOWN, MD (September 21, 2017) - The Washington County Educational Support Personnel (WCESP) and Washington County Teachers Association (WCTA) have both ratified the terms of the new employee negotiated agreements among each group’s membership.
The terms will now be presented to the Washington County Board of Education (BOE) for a formal vote on the agreements at the BOE Meeting on Tuesday, September 26, 2017, which will be held in the auditorium of the Center for Education Services at 10435 Downsville Pike at 6 p.m.
Open House for Pre-K-12 Academy, Specialized and Magnet Programs
HAGERSTOWN, MD (September 12, 2017) – The Office of Advanced Programs and the Office of Career Technology Education of Washington County Public Schools will present an open house event for all students from pre-kindergarten to grade 12 on Monday, September 25, 2017 at South Hagerstown High School.
