Open House for Pre-K-12 Academy, Specialized and Magnet Programs

HAGERSTOWN, MD (September 12, 2017) – The Office of Advanced Programs and the Office of Career Technology Education of Washington County Public Schools will present an open house event for all students from pre-kindergarten to grade 12 on Monday, September 25, 2017 at South Hagerstown High School. The evening of programs, displays and information will focus on academy, specialized and magnet programs available to all students.

The evening schedule begins at 5:30 for parents of elementary and middle school students, who can learn more about magnet and enrichment programs through exhibits, and in sessions in the auditorium and media center on the topics of the Promise Pathway program and on Early Prep to Later Success. From 6:05 – 7 p.m. an overview of programs will be presented: early talent development, GATE, magnet and merit opportunities, along with a panel question and answer session on magnet programs.

High school programs will be the focus of displays and rotating presentations from 7:30 – 9 p.m. in the auditorium, media center and cafeteria. Topics include first to college, why advanced placement courses, and value added programs in career technology education and academies. Information will also be presented on Promise Pathway, STEMM Technical Middle College, Project Lead the Way, Academic Leadership Academy, International Baccalaureate Programme, Middle Years (MYP), Washington County Technical High School and Barbara Ingram School for the Arts.
