Tech High's Sally Irwin is State Teacher of the Year Finalist

HAGERSTOWN, MD (September 2, 2015) – Sally Irwin, Project Lead the Way biomedical science teacher at Washington County Technical High School and 2015-2016 Washington County Public Schools (WCPS) Teacher of the Year, has been announced as one of seven finalists for Maryland State Teacher of the Year 2015-2016. The other finalists are from Allegany, Anne Arundel, Frederick, Howard and Queen Anne’s counties and Baltimore City.

Mrs. Irwin says, “I am honored to represent Tech High, Washington County and all my fellow WCPS teachers in the state Teacher of the Year program. It is a thrill to be named a finalist and I share it with the many educators, parents, students and citizens who support education in Washington County."

The next step in the State Teacher of the Year process is a personal interview before a panel of judges on Saturday, September 19, 2015 at the Maryland State Department of Education in Baltimore. The 2015-2016 Maryland Teacher of the Year will be announced at the Awards Gala on October 9, 2015 at Martin’s West.
