HAGERSTOWN, MD (October 29, 2018) – Five high school teams from Washington County Public Schools (WCPS) will participate in the District We the People: The Citizen and the Constitution competition on Tuesday, November 13, 2018 from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the Center for Education Services, 10435 Downsville Pike, Hagerstown. Participating schools are Boonsboro, North Hagerstown, Smithsburg, South Hagerstown and Williamsport high schools.

We the People promotes civic competence and responsibility among students. Students work cooperatively with team members in a simulated congressional hearing, where they demonstrate their knowledge and understanding of constitutional principles and ideas. The student presentations are judged by a panel of community representatives and WCPS staff members who are acting as a congressional committee.
