She is one of five finalists in the multi-state region and will learn who receives top honors at the group’s conference next month. Christine Hurley at Springfield Middle School has been nominated for the first-ever Maryland School Librarian of the Year award. Five finalists will be chosen by the Maryland Association of School Librarians and a winner will be announced in February. The finalists will be invited to the Common Ground Conference in Ocean City May 4-5. Ms. Hurley is in her ninth year as a media specialist and 13th year of teaching overall.
