MEDIA RELEASE: WCBOE Hosts Budget Public Hearing on Tuesday, March 2

The Washington County Board of Education (WCBOE) is hosting a public hearing for community members to provide feedback and input regarding the Board of Education's FY2022 Draft Budget for Washington County Public Schools (WCPS) on Tuesday, March 2, 2021, starting 6:00 p.m. The hearing will be held in person at the Center for Education Services (CES), located at 10435 Downsville Pike, Hagerstown, MD 21740. Because the CES is limiting visitors due to the COVID-19 pandemic, interested participants must sign up in advance if they would like to speak during the public hearing.
Individuals wishing to provide in-person public comment are required to sign up by calling Debra A. Cechovic, Secretary to the WCBOE at 301-766-2971. Callers must leave a message with their name and a callback phone number. Speaker sign-ups will be accepted through 4:30 p.m. on Monday, March 1, 2021.
Each speaker may speak for up to five (5) minutes. They should introduce themselves, identify whether they are speaking as individuals or on behalf of an organization, and may provide a copy of their comments for future consideration by Board members. Speakers should not discuss personnel or student matters that clearly identify an individual or individuals. There will be no dialogue between speakers and the Board members during the public hearing.

The record will remain open for 10 days following the public hearing on March 2, 2021.
This process should also be followed for individuals interested in speaking during the public comment portion of the Board of Education's business meeting, which will be held immediately following the public hearing.
