Washington County Public Schools (WCPS) is sharing the draft school reopening plan for the 2022-2023 school year. This was developed in accordance with requirements from the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) and to provide a safe and healthy learning environment for in-person learning while the COVID-19 pandemic continues. 

The plan will be available on the WCPS website throughout the school year and will be updated at least every six months.

The ARP ESSER fund is providing nearly $122 billion to States to support schools in safely reopening and sustaining safe operations of schools while meeting the academic, social, emotional, and mental health needs of students resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic. WCPS is being provided $55,329,089.

WCPS received the ARP ESSER grant application on June 25, 2021 and additional requirements from the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) on July 9, 2021. Throughout the pandemic, WCPS has incorporated broad stakeholder feedback in plans to safely return students to schools and accelerate learning. That feedback continues to be considered in the draft WCPS ARP ESSER plan.
