Summer Programs
Washington County Public Schools offer summer learning opportunities for students in elementary, middle and high school. Summer school schedules and programs are listed below.
HIGH SCHOOL
The first semester of Summer School runs from June 14 to July 8, 2021. The second semester of Summer School runs from July 12 - August 5, 2021. Morning classes are from 8:45 AM to 11:30 AM Monday through Thursday. Afternoon classes are from 12:00 PM to 2:45 PM Monday through Thursday. High school summer school offers both repeat credit courses and original credit courses. Breakfast, lunch, and transportation will be provided. North Hagerstown High School’s summer school will be held at Northern Middle School. Smithsburg High School’s summer school will be held at Boonsboro High School. Barbara Ingram School for the Arts will host art camps, but not summer school. All other high schools will host their own summer school.
MIDDLE SCHOOL Summer Camps
Middle School summer camps will run from June 14 to August 6, 2020. 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Most camps run Monday through Thursday for one or two weeks. Some camps are 8:45 AM - 11:30 AM, Some are 12:00 PM - 2:45 PM, and some camps are from 8:45 AM t- 2:45 PM. Breakfast, lunch and transportation will be provided. Smithsburg Middle School’s summer camps will be held at Smithsburg Elementary School and Western Heights Middle School’s summer camps will be held at Jonathan Hager Elementary School. All other middle schools will host their own summer camps.
ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
At the elementary level WCPS will be offering tutoring and summer camps for one to two week periods throughout the 9 weeks of summer in each of our elementary schools with the goal to increase student readiness and to accelerate learning in the areas of literacy and/or mathematics. Breakfast, lunch, and transportation will be provided.
