Homeland Security Technologies
The Homeland Security Technologies program is designed to give students insight into the foundations of Homeland Security, including Terrorism, the USA PATRIOT Act, Cyber Security and other threats faced by our nation. The program also examines the federal, state and local agencies responsible for protecting our nation and preparing for emergencies. Students will also learn how to use Geographical Information Systems (GIS), a computer mapping technology that allows data to be viewed, managed and analyzed in new ways. Topics will include Geospatial Intelligence, Remote Sensing and Global Positioning Systems. Students will develop the knowledge to sit for industry certifications in GIS, allowing them to pursue careers at all levels of government, business, utilities and communication, natural resources, public safety, national defense and education. GIS is everywhere!
FAST FACTSStudents can earn real-world, professional certifications in GIS and Emergency Communications. This program offers opportunities to earn college credits in Homeland Security, GIS, Cyber Security, and Computer Forensics. Career opportunities within Homeland Security are plentiful. Homeland Security – Many jobs, one mission! Up to 15 college credits are available for graduates of this program. |
