SSL Opportunities

Senior Honor Night: Senior students interested in being honored for earning 150+ Student Service Learning hours, and invited to “Senior Honor Night”, must meet the minimum requirement and have these SSL hours turned into Mrs. Knodle by Friday, March 1st!  The county ceremony is held in May at North Hagerstown High School and is by invitation ONLY.  Invitations are sent by CES, not WCTHS, for qualified Seniors.

“WCTHS students must complete their SSL hours by April 4, 2019 in order to attend the May 2019 Prom” as stated in the WCTHS 2018-2019 Student/Parent Handbook

The University of MD Extension Wa. Co. 4-H Program is looking for high school students to volunteer as Teen Leaders at Summer Camp.  Camp will be held August 11-16, 2019 at the Wa. Co. Agricultural Ed. Center (7313 Sharpsburg Pike, Boonsboro) and Leader positions are open to all high school youth regardless of 4-H membership.  Student volunteers will receive 30 hours of training related to Youth Development, Leadership and Risk Management which is also counted towards your SSL required hours.  Orientation is on Wednesday, February 13th at 6:30 PM at the University of MD Extension Washington County Office (7303 Sharpsburg Pike, Boonsboro).  Parents should attend with their child.  For questions, please contact Amanda Shank, Camp Director, at ashank1@umd.edu or 301-791-1404.

The Robert Johnson Community Center on W. North Avenue is looking for high school students to assist in their afterschool program.  The program runs Monday-Friday from 2:30-6:30 PM.  Interested students should call 301-790-0203 and speak to Tisha Crudup, the Volunteer Coordinator, to sign up.  One day notice is a must!!

The Washington County Historical Society (located at 135 W. Washington St. Hagerstown) is looking for students to assist in a variety of opportunities.  From weekend painting and garden work to working in their library, archives or assisting during Saturday craft sessions.  All activities are on site at the Miller House and interested students should contact Anna Cueto at curator@washcohistory.org or 301-797-8782.

Rohrersville Ruritan - Students needed to assist in making wreathes on Friday, Feb. 22nd from 4:00-9:00 PM.  The fundraiser is located at 4300 Main Street at the Bethel United Methodist Church in Rohrersville.  Interested students should contact Melissa at slifersrus3@myactv.net
