The Automotive Technology Program is certified through Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) and the National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation (NATEF). In the Automotive Technology Program students will complete the National Automotive Technicians Education Foundation (NATEF) and the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) Maintenance and Light Repair Plus (MLR +) program. This program is designed to prepare students to become entry level Automotive Technicians and enable them to seek post-secondary education and/or pursue gainful employment in the industry. The Automotive Technology Program also offers a Cooperative Work Program which allows students to earn the opportunity to be gainfully employed in the industry while attending school. The Automotive Technology Program has active articulation agreements with the Universal Technical Institute (UTI) and University of Northwestern Ohio (UNOH) as well as having connections with other post-secondary schools including: Pittsburgh Institute of Aeronautics; York Technical Institute; Community College of Baltimore County/Catonsville; Ohio Technical College; Lincoln Tech; Nashville Auto Diesel College; and Allegany College of Maryland. Through the Student Trades Foundation there is an active “Mini Dealership” that is an integral part of the program.

Maryland Youth Apprenticeship Program

WCPS Maryland Youth Apprenticeship Pilot Program is for current juniors or seniors, ages 16 and up, who are in a career pathway that could lead to seeking employment in manufacturing and STEM occupations. Students are placed with approved employers who assign a qualified mentor who provides guidance and on-the-job training. The program provides the unique opportunity to “earn and learn."
