Melissa WilliamsMelissa A. Williams was born and raised in Washington County and has spent her thirty-five year career in public education in the schools of Washington County. Melissa spent five years teaching social studies and developmental reading at Clear Spring Middle School and twenty-six years in the county's elementary schools serving in various roles - Title I Reading Resource Teacher, Reading Improvement Teacher, Student Achievement Specialist, Itinerant Resource Teacher, Project Challenge (Talented and Gifted Program) Teacher and fourth grade classroom teacher. Since her retirement in 2009, Melissa has worked as an educational consultant in the area of school reform for the Maryland State Department of Education and as a Frostburg State University adjunct faculty member. The mother of three adult children, all graduates of Washington County Public Schools, Melissa lives in Smithsburg with her husband, David. Melissa enjoys being a life-long learner, loves to read and is active in her community. Currently, she serves as a member of Smithsburg's Parks and Improvement Commission and as a member of the Board of Directors and recording secretary of The Women's Club, Inc. of Hagerstown and The Women's Club Foundation, Inc.
