Jacqueline Fischer resides near Clear Spring with her husband, George; they have one son. A graduate of South Hagerstown High School, Mrs. Fischer earned a teaching degree in secondary education from Frostburg State College and master’s equivalency primarily from Western Maryland College (now McDaniel College). She taught English and journalism for 32 years at Williamsport, Smithsburg and Clear Spring high schools followed by two years of substitute teaching. She served as newspaper advisor and junior class/prom sponsor for most of those years. From 2002 through 2006 she served on the Washington County School Board and has been re-elected in 2010, 2014 and 2018. Mrs. Fischer enjoys collecting school memorabilia and teddy bears. She also participates in historical reenactments from the era of the fur trade and shoots primitive style muzzleloaders in competition.
