With the start of the 2021-2022 school year, the Washington County Board of Education is currently following standard procedures for public business meetings. The next public business meeting will be held on Tuesday, November 2, 2021 at 6:00 p.m. The meeting will be held at the Center for Education Services, located at 10435 Downsville Pike in Hagerstown.
The Center for Education Services is open to the public. All individuals over two years of age in Washington County Public Schools (WCPS) school buildings and indoor facilities are required to wear face coverings over the mouth and nose. In-person attendance in the Board meeting room is open as long as six feet of physical distance can be maintained among attendees in the audience.
The Board of Education supports public comment and participation at public business meetings. Community members are encouraged, but not required, to sign up in advance to speak during the public comment portion of the meeting. Individuals will speak in the order in which they are signed up. Speakers can sign up by contacting Debra A. Cechovic, Secretary to the Board of Education, by calling 301-766-2971. Callers should leave a message with their name and a callback phone number.
In accordance with Board Policy KD, each speaker may speak for up to five (5) minutes. Speakers should introduce themselves, identify whether they are speaking as individuals or on behalf of an organization, and may provide a copy of their comments for further consideration by the Board members. Speakers may address any topic concerning Washington County Public Schools, except personnel or student matters that clearly identify an individual or individuals. In the event that the number of speakers exceeds the capacity of the room with physical distancing, speakers will be rotated in and out of the meeting room.
Board Business Meetings are held twice per month, on the first and third Tuesdays each month at the Center for Education Services, 10435 Downsville Pike, Hagerstown, MD 21740. The first and third Tuesday of the month schedule may vary at times, and during the COVID-19 pandemic the WCBOE may choose to meet virtually.
