SAT Testing Cancelled - August 29, 2020
WCPS will not offer any testing sites for the August 29 administration of the SAT. Future SAT testing dates in the county will be announced at a later date.
Summer 2020 Schedule for Schools and Offices
(June 19, 2020) – Washington County Public Schools (WCPS) will begin a schedule of four-day work weeks on Monday, June 22, 2020, continuing through Friday, August 14. Schools and offices will be open expanded hours Monday through Thursday and closed each Friday as an energy and cost-saving measure. Regular hours will resume on Monday, August 17.
Brish Planetarium Promoting New Video About the Universe
(June 16, 2020) – While the William Brish Planetarium of Washington County Public Schools remains closed, incoming Planetarium resource teacher Alicia Robertson is promoting the family movie, We Are Astronomers, a collaborative project coordinated by NSC (National Space Centre) Creative. The production takes viewers on a journey from the big bang to the future of astronomy.
Summer Meal Program Schedule Set for 2020
June 12, 2020 - The summer meal program is set to kick off on Monday, June 15, 2020, as the Food and Nutrition Services department of Washington County Public Schools provides free meals to anyone 18 years of age and younger. Meals will be available each Monday, Wednesday and Thursday through August 21 at the following locations:
Rachel Dayley Named Maryland Language Teacher of the Year
(June 12, 2020) – Williamsport High School Spanish teacher Rachel Dayley has been honored as Language Teacher of the Year by the Maryland Foreign Language Association (MFLA). Rachel has taught in Washington County Public Schools (WCPS) for nearly nine years and becomes the fourth WCPS language teacher to win the MFLA award in the past seven years.
Tech High Students Earn Top Honors at 2020 Maryland HOSA Competition
(June 9, 2020) – The new chapter of HOSA/Future Health Professionals (formerly Health Occupations Students of America) at Washington County Technical High School is proud to announce several members who achieved first-place finishes in the 2020 Maryland HOSA State Leadership conference held virtually in March.
Virtual Celebration of Excellence Honors WCPS Seniors
Hagerstown, MD (June 8, 2020) - This year's Celebration of Excellence was a virtual presentation on Facebook by Washington County Public Schools, honoring high school seniors who earned a grade point average of 3.7 or higher through the first semester of their senior year. An in-person program was not possible because of restrictions and precautions related to COVID-19. The program featured the reading of the names of the students as their pictures were displayed:
