WCPS Athletics Held Off Until Stage 3
Washington County Public Schools (WCPS) values the benefits of all extracurricular activities in supporting the physical and social-emotional wellbeing of students. Athletics, visual and performing arts, and social and academic clubs complement and strengthen academic studies and enrich the learning experience.
WCBOE Announces New Process for Public Comment During COVID-19 Pandemic
1. The Board of Education supports and encourages public comment at regular Board of Education business meetings.
2. A successful school system requires an involved and supportive community that provides comments on matters of interest or concern that will serve to improve the school system.
3. The Board of Education has returned to in-person business meetings with appropriate physical distancing and the wearing of masks and encourages the community to offer in-person public comment concerning matters relating to Washington County Public Schools.
WCPS Considering Options for Athletics
On September 24, 2020 the state superintendent of schools, Dr. Karen Salmon, announced a new option that would allow fall sports to competitively resume by October 7, 2020. Washington County Public Schools (WCPS) is sharing more information with our school families as there are many considerations that must be made in light of this announcement.

Christine Hurley, a library media specialist at Boonsboro Middle School, has been named one of seven finalists for the Maryland Teacher of the Year.

Hagerstown, MD (September 2, 2020) - On September 1, 2020, the Washington County Board of Education (“Board”) approved the first reading of proposed changes to Policy DIG, entitled “Capitalization Program/Limit.”

WCBOE Approves Superintendent's Plan to Return to In-Person Instruction
At this evening's Board of Education meeting, the Board approved an expanded plan to reopen schools to students in five stages. Based on the plan, the first students would return to classrooms on Wednesday, September 16, 2020.
