Magnet Program for Integrated Arts and Academic Excellence

Magnet  students explore the impact of the arts on the individual experience and learning process. The arts are infused into students' content  area classes - English language arts, math, science and social studies - with the goal of fostering interest in the humanities.Students with special aptitudes for and interests in art, dance, music and theater will enjoy this program. Technology via iPads, iPods, laptops and interactive whiteboards, along with guest speakers, vertical field trips and showcase events, also contribute to an arts-rich experience at Fountaindale. Magnet students build individual strengths and talents as they work through the curriculum at an accelerated pace that is at least one to two years above grade level in terms of breadth and/or depth. Students learn how visual art, movement and music connect to broadeh and enhance their understanding of curricular topics and themes. Fountaindale  strives to engage students in community based problem solving through S.T.E.A.M., instruction integrating science, technology, engineering, the arts and mathematics. Our school's on campus Outdoor Learning Lab allows S.T.E.A.M. to come to life. Students complete summer assignments that their teachers will use to launch the school year and "frontload" content to allow magnet teachers to increase the depth of exploration throughout the school year.
