Fundraising Policy Up for Public Comment

Hagerstown, MD (May 10, 2017) - The Washington County Board of Education (BOE) is offering the opportunity for public comment on changes to the policy governing fundraising in school-sponsored activities. The BOE's Policy Committee has agreed to create three separate and distinct policies: JJE (School-Based/Student Organization Fundraising Activities), KB (Incorporated Organization Fundraising Activities) and KBA (Unincorporated Organization Fundraising Activities). The Policy Committee is inviting any interested individuals who wish to comment on the proposed policies to the committee's next meeting on May 23, 2017 at 9:15 a.m. at the Center for Education Services, 10435 Downsville Pike, Hagerstown. 

The proposed policies are available for review in a PDF under Documents to the right of this page.

Individuals who cannot attend the meeting but wish to offer comments or may have questions are encouraged to submit written comments or questions to the Policy Committee members by mail to the Center for Education Services address listed above or by email to:

The deadline to submit comments prior to the first reading of the proposed policies is June 1, 2017. The Policy Committee will review comments and questions at its public meeting on June 7, 2017. The proposed policies and exhibits will tentatively be presented to the BOE for a first reading on June 20, 2017.
