Claud E. Kitchens Outdoor School Hosting Maple Sugar Festival on March 4

HAGERSTOWN, MD (February 22, 2017) – The annual Maple Sugar Festival at Claud E. Kitchens Outdoor School at Fairview will be held on Saturday, March 4, 2017 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The day’s events include a pancake breakfast sponsored by the Clear Spring FFA/FFA Alumni from 8 to 11 a.m. in the Fairview dining hall. Breakfast tickets can be obtained by calling 301-766-8138.

The Maple Sugar Festival is a family-oriented event that includes indoor and outdoor activities. Sap to syrup demonstrations will be presented from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Fairview Sugar Shack. Craft vendors are participating and live bluegrass music will be featured. Children’s activities include face painting, visits to the fire tower, balloon sculpting, necklace making and hay rides. Genuine Maryland maple sugar products will also be available for purchase.

Directions to Claud E. Kitchens Outdoor School at Fairview: Take exit 18 off Interstate 70 at Clear Spring, Maryland. Go north into Clear Spring on Maryland Route 68. Turn left on U.S. Route 40. Continue one block and turn right at the traffic light on to Martin Street. At the end of Martin Street, turn right on Broadfording Road and travel approximately 100 yards. Turn left on Draper Road. The entrance to the outdoor school is about 1/3 of a mile from this intersection on the left.
