HAGERSTOWN, MD (March 29, 2018) – Christopher Mackley, a sophomore at Williamsport High School, was recently elected as the student member to the Washington County Board of Education (BOE). Chris was selected from a field of five finalists by representatives of the Washington County Student Government Association and will succeed Ibrahim Diallo in July.

Chris is in the STEM program and currently serving as co-vice president of Williamsport High’s Student Government Association. He is also involved in cross-country, track and the National Spanish Honor Society.

When campaigning for the position, Chris included school safety, additional mental health counseling services for students, healthier and more unique school lunch options, maintaining technology as a top priority and an expansion of the family life curriculum in his platform. He said, “I can’t wait to get started representing all the students of Washington County Public Schools and advocating on their behalf.”
