WCTHS Hosts Western Maryland Regional SkillsUSA Championships

The Washington County Technical High School (WCTHS) was host to the Maryland SkillsUSA Region Six (Western Maryland) Championships on Saturday February 3rd, 2018. There were 179 registered contestants taking part in 20 different technical area contests. The first three places in the competitions are able to move forward toward the Maryland SkillsUSA State Championships in April. From there, only the first place at the state competition level may move on to represent Maryland at the National SkillsUSA Championships in Louisville Kentucky in June.

With much help from the staff and student volunteers at Tech High, the contests began at 8am, ran without incident both at the High School and the Public Service Academy. The cafeteria at Tech High was filled to capacity with teachers, families, friends and contestants for the Medal Awards Ceremony.

The following students from WCTHS placed in the medals:

· Ryan Robertson, First Place in Electrical Construction Wiring

· The team of Nell Humphries and Caitlynne Johnson, First Place in TV (Video) Production

· Nathan Strassberger, First Place in Carpentry

· Morgan “JJ” Thompson, First Place in Basic Health Care Skills

· Randee Deener, First Place in Culinary Arts

· Megan Mentzer, First Place in Food and Beverage Service

· The team of Jessica Monn, Karissa Schisler and Breanna Hose Junior, First Place in Crime Scene Investigation

 

· Kevin Watkins, Second Place Automotive Service Technology

· The team of Taylor Rudisill, Autumn Stone and Sara Sutton, Second Place in Crime Scene Investigation

· Isabella Leonard, Second Place in Food and Beverage Service

· Jessica Claman and her model Lyndi Rodeheaver, Second Place in Esthetics

· Alexis Kingsbury, Second Place in Advertising Design

· Brianna Ott, Second Place in Cosmetology

 

· The team of Jodi Bentz, Jordan Kimble and Alisha Smith, Third Place in Crime Scene Investigation

· Amanda Keller, Third Place in Culinary Arts
