WCPS Position on Disruptive Protests

Posted April 11, 2018

Washington County Public Schools’ (WCPS’s) Position on Disruptive Protests

Protests that interfere with the learning environment or disrupt the operation of any WCPS school are unacceptable. Disruptive protests put the safety of all students at risk, violate the right of students to receive an education, demean the work of our teachers and staff, and disrespect the investment our community makes to support the future success of its young people. Students who interfere with the learning environment or disrupt the operation of the school will receive consequences as prescribed in the WCPS Disciplinary Guidelines. Students interested in protesting or voicing their concerns must do so in a manner that does not violate disciplinary guidelines or infringe on the rights of others.
