WCPS Launches Online Tutorials for Family-Assisted Learning

Posted March 20, 2019

HAGERSTOWN, MD (March 20, 2019) – Online tutorials are now available for middle and high school students of Washington County Public Schools (WCPS) when they are away from the classroom. These resources from Apex Learning in Math and English Language Arts can provide help on homework, offer extra practice on topics where a student may be struggling, facilitate accelerated learning to get ahead in certain subject areas and prepare for standardized tests or college entrance exams.

The tutorials are available online and can be accessed anytime, anywhere on WCPS-issued iPads and Chromebooks or on devices at home. Each tutorial has a four-part design: Learn It, Try It, Review It and Test It. Students are able to participate in direct instruction, practice what they have learned, review and reinforce content with video summaries and gain a measurement of knowledge with assessments.

Students can access the resources by visiting google.com, logging into their WCPS Google account, and clicking on the nine-dot icon in the upper right-hand corner of the page. This will bring up Google Applications, where visitors should click on the word, “More,” and select Apex Learning. A YouTube video was created to help students and parents navigate to the site: https://bit.ly/2UbTfvE. Additional assistance is also available from each school’s Apex Coordinator.
