Washington County Public Schools Launches New App

Posted August 15, 2017

HAGERSTOWN, MD (August 15, 2017) – Washington County Public Schools (WCPS) is launching a new mobile app for smartphones and other devices in order to expand its communication outreach to parents and the community. WCPS is partnering with Blackboard to make the app available in the online iTunes and Google Play app stores for free.

Parents of WCPS students will be able to customize the app by selecting the schools their children attend and will have immediate access to school news, grades and lunch balances, along with a constantly updated feed of school district news and events. Parents and the public will receive notifications of school closings, delays and early dismissals via the app.

Communications Officer Richard Wright believes the app will create a stronger connection between the schools and community. “We strive to efficiently and effectively communicate with parents and the community and the app will be the latest tool to accomplish that. Schools are stronger and more successful when parents are engaged in their students’ learning and school activities.”

Parents and the public are encouraged to download the free Washington County PS mobile app to their smartphones at: https://www.apple.com/itunes/ or https://play.google.com/store.
