Updated Draft of Fund-Raising Policy Available for Comment

Hagerstown, MD (July 14, 2016) - The Washington County Board of Education's (BOE) Policy Committee met on July 12, 2016 and recommended that existing Policies IGDF and JLA be rescinded, but that certain provisions of these policies be incorporated in a new policy, to be known as Policy KB.  A copy of the draft of Policy KB, which is entitled “School Activities, Programs, and/or Fund-Raisers Sponsored by School-Based Organizations, Parent Organizations, and Booster Clubs,” Exhibit KB-E(1), which is entitled “Activity or Program Approval Form,” and Exhibit KB-E(2), which is entitled “Authorization/Denial of Parent Organization/Booster Club,” are available for review. The Policy Committee is anticipating that the first reading of this policy will be presented to the BOE at its public business meeting August 23, 2016, at 6 p.m.  The second reading and adoption of the policy and exhibits are tentatively scheduled for September 20, 2016. 

A letter will be provided to school principals, parent organization presidents and booster club presidents seeking their comments on the proposed policy.
