Tech High Bulletin

Posted January 3, 2018

Wednesday, January 03, 2018 – A-Day

Library will be closed today until 1:10pm related to testing.

  • Mrs. Tasker’s class, please use cafeteria door.
  • Copy machine is not available from 9:00 – 1:10.

Black Eyed Susan Book Award program: At least one student at WCTHS has already found a book to recommend to others to vote for in the Maryland Black Eyed Susan Book Award program. That book – THE STEEP AND THORNY WAY – evidently has characters that motivate readers to find out what happens next in a thrilling plot. If you think this book should be the Black Eyed Susan Book Award WINNER this year, recommend it to others by making a book trailer or poster about it to persuade them to read it and vote for this book in April 2018. If you DO make a trailer or poster, get it to Ms. Higy to share on the WCTHS Screens and/or to post in the Morning Bulletin and/or on WCTHS hallway bulletin boards. If you are reading a different BES book that YOU think should win, make a book trailer or poster about it and get it to Ms. Higy to share as well. And - if you’re not sure how to make a book trailer, use your IPad and find out! Lots of options are available – including Animoto and other easy video maker platforms.

The next Tech High Pride Club-GSA Meeting will be held tomorrow – and it’s an extra special “Founder’s Day” Meeting. Tech High Pride Club Founder, WCTHS graduate Kristen Delosh, will visit with us to share her perspective on the LGBTQ+ college experience as compared to the high school life. Be sure to mark your calendar for this special meeting and make arrangements to stay.

Tech High Yearbook is accepting Selfies from Seniors for our Senior Selfie Page.  Everyone in the picture MUST be a senior, attend Tech High and be school appropriate. To submit:

  • Download YEARBOOK SNAP app
  • Look up Washington County Technical High School
  • Class code: Eagles
  • Pick Yearbook Special Request to upload photos

Yearbook Orders: You may order a yearbook online at or pickup an order form on the cart outside of Library Media Center.

Student Assistance Program: If you are concerned about a friend’s use of drugs or alcohol, Tech High has a confidential referral program called the Student Assistance Program.  You can make an anonymous referral by placing your concern in a referral box that’s located in the hall outside of the counseling center. A group of teachers and staff who have been trained to handle your concerns will take it from there.  No one needs to know where the concern came from.  It’s a great way to help a friend who is struggling.  If you ever need help or want more information, you can talk to a member of our team: Ms. Nichols (Cosmetology I), Mr. Vanorsdale (Counseling Center), Mr. Gery (Resource Room), Mrs. Kaper-Dick (SSL Office across from the main office) or Mr. Buhrman (Assistant Principal).

SENIORS:  If you haven't already turned in your completed diploma card, please turn it in to Mrs. Healey in the Guidance Office ASAP.  If you need a blank card, please see Mrs. Healey.

SENIORS:  If you are interested in participating in graduation ceremonies at both WCTHS and your home school, please stop by to see Mrs. Healey in the Guidance Office at your earliest convenience.
