Wednesday, September 12, 2018 – A-Day

Today there is an SGA meeting in the AV center at 12:15pm.  All senior SGA members are invited to attend. Homecoming, Friend’s Day and Recruitment of Juniors will be among some of the topics discussed.  Committees will need to be made.  If the meeting interferes with your lunch, please leave a few minutes early from class to get a lunch from the cafeteria and bring it to the AV center.   

Senior Picture for yearbook:

  • All senior yearbook pictures must be submitted by November 9. 
  • If you had your picture taken at Myerly and Lowe, they will submit your picture. 
  • If you had your picture taken elsewhere, please submit your picture digitally (JPEG) to higyani@wcps.k12.md.us.

Yearbooks are $50 from now until December 22.

$55 - December 23 – March 22.

$60 – March 23 – May 3.

$65 cash – May 4 – end of year if there are any unsold Yearbooks.

Ipad access at home: Students/staff if you are having issues accessing the Internet at home, please try this: Enter username (5/3 or whatever you use to log into a school computer) and password (wcps lunch number) in the proxy up to 5 times. If you are still having issues please drop-by to the media center.

Juniors who would like to participate in SGA - the Tech High officer team hopes that the juniors will run for junior president and junior vice president.  These leadership positions for our school are designed for the juniors to have a say in the changes our school makes.  All officer candidates will need to submit an SGA officer applicant form and be prepared to speak in front of the entire SGA on Friday, October 26 from 12:15 to 1:00pm. Please see Mrs. Eberle for officer forms.

Attention Class of 2019:  Order forms for Senior Class t-shirts, hoodies and long sleeve tie-dyed shirts will be given out in your tech class on Wednesday and Thursday this week.  All orders and payment will be due by Sept. 28th.  Additional order forms will be available in the front office and outside of Mrs. Larrick's classroom.  

TECH HIGH PRIDE CLUB Information: The Pride Club of Tech High invites you to be an active member of our group and attend meetings on discussions of various LGBT+ topics, as well as help plan events for the school, hosted by the club. The initial meeting will be held in Ms. Mowen’s classroom on Thursday September 13th after school. All are welcome. If you can’t make this first meeting, drop by the PRIDE CLUB tent at Friend’s Day to find out more about our group and events!

SSL Opportunities

Fall HAYSL- Student volunteers are needed on Saturdays for concession stand duties and/or as sideline referees for youth soccer matches.  Concessions are open from 9-2pm and refs are needed from 10-3pm.  The season begins Sat., Sept. 15th and ends Sat., Oct. 27th.  Training is provided and interested students should contact Katie Staup at haysl627fundraise@gmail.com

BCA-Cumberland Valley - Student volunteers are needed to set up Fields of Pink at the following locations and times:

  • United Bank (North Pointe Drive) Wed., Sept. 26th at 3:30pm
  • Elks Club (Robinwood Drive) Thurs., Sept 27th at 4pm
  • Orrstown Bank (Route 11, Greencastle) Mon., Oct. 1st at 3pm

BCA-Cumberland Valley - Student volunteers are needed to place pink flags around the walk route and remove them after the event, to hand out water and fruit and to encourage walkers on Sat., Oct. 20th from 6:45am-12:00pm. The Boondocks Music Festival - (in Boonsboro) is looking for student volunteers to run the Kid Zone on Saturday, Sept. 29th from 2pm-7pm.  Students would oversee various activities such as lawn games, arts and crafts and face painting.  Proceeds from the event go to the Wounded Warrior Project.  Interested students should contact Lauren Burke at boondocksfest@gmail.com or at 301-730-8317.

The 12th Annual Hispanic Festival - held at the Hagerstown Fairgrounds, is in need of student volunteers.  This is a family friendly event featuring Latino culture through music, food and more!  Students needed on Sunday, Sept. 23rd anytime from 8:45am-6:00pm.  Student must confirm registration no later than Thurs., Sept. 20th with Wenda Castro at 301-792-9101 or at wendacastro@yahoo.com  Students should state their first and last name, contact number and the school in which they attend on the email/message.
