Prom Pictures: The following students need to pick up their Myerly & Lowe prom picture packets from Mrs. Larrick:  Devon Allison, Hunter Seymour, Serena Shirley, Dalton Yost, and Zack Carpenter

Reminder to 701 B-Day Juniors - there will be an AP Human Geography meeting in Mrs. Larrick's classroom at 2:15 today.  Summer assignment packets will be given at that time.  All are invited to attend who are interested in the class.  

AP Literature: Juniors, If you’re are planning on taking AP Literature next year, please make sure you have picked up the Summer Assignment from Mrs. Tasker by Wednesday afternoon! 

AP Chemistry: Any student planning to take AP Chemistry next year should stop by Mrs. McDonald’s room to pick up the summer assignment.  Please come by room 130 to get the assignment by June 1st.

GUIDANCE NEWS

Attention Students!!! If you borrowed a book from the guidance office, please return ASAP

MD Workforce Shortage Student Assistance Grant Program ($scholarship$) Deadline date is May 31, 2017.  Eligible fields are Child Care, Human Services, Teaching, Nursing, PT & OT, and Social Work & Public Service.  Go to https://mdcaps.mhec.state.md.us. On the right, click Types of Scholarships & Grants. Look under Career/Occupation Based Grants & Scholarships.

Fall registration at HCC is underway.  Graduating seniors may meet with an academic advisor to register on a walk-in basis - no appointment needed.  All students who want to be in the ESSENCE Early to College program next year and take classes at HCC, will need to call 240-500-2238 to schedule a time to register.  All students are advised to register as soon as possible! SSL OPPORTUNITY

Otterbein United Methodist Church:  (108 E. Franklin Street, Hagerstown) Are looking for High School students to volunteer and earn SSL hours at their Summer Arts Camp for 2nd-8th grade students.  The dates are:

  • June 19-23 from 9:00 AM-3:00 PM- painting, music, storytelling, clay work and Arts Show
  • June 26-30 from 9:00 AM-3:00 PM-Culinary Camp (local chefs, field trips to restaurants and a Tasting Show)
  • July 24-28 from 9:00 AM-3:00 PM-Arts Camp (clay work, abstract art design, music, dance and an Arts Show)

Discovery Station (101 W. Washington St.): is looking for students to assist their organization on Saturdays.  Various opportunities available in areas such as the Gift Shop, Admissions check-in, Art & Childcare rooms as well as multiple exhibits and displays.  Volunteer applications are available under the SSL bulletin board or online at info@discoverystation.com   Shifts are generally 3 hours, either 10:00 AM-1:00 PM or 1:00 PM-4:00 PM.  To set up dates and times please contact:  Ms. Pat Kelley, Executive Director, at 301-790-0076.

HCC College for Kids:  is looking for student volunteers to assist as classroom aides, check-in, and before and after care.  Weekly:  June 19th –August 11th.  Contact volunteer services at 240-500-2217 or volunteerservices@hagerstowncc.edu if interested.

Hospice Camp Hope ‘N’ Cope:  Camp volunteers needed as support staff and Big Buddies.  Must be 18 years old.  Volunteer applications due Wed., July 25th to Hospice at 747 Northern Avenue, Hagerstown (see Mrs. Knodle for the paper version).  Training is on Mon., July 31st from 6:00-8:00 PM and Camp Event date is Sat., August 19th from 8:00 AM-9:00 PM.  

Washington County Free Library (Downtown Location, 100 S. Potomac St.)-Earn SSL hours at Teen Library Council meetings, Wednesdays, from 5:00-7:00 PM.  Students may earn SSL hours for every hour they attend a meeting or by submitting an article or another creation to the blog.  Each entry earns 1 SSL hour per submission.  For more info contact Cynthia Powell at cpowell@washcolibrary.org 301-739-3250.

Greenfield Senior Living (310 Cameo Dr., Hag.)-Students needed to help with activities for residents after school, weekends and summertime.  Activities include games, arts, crafts, special events, singing, playing an instrument, bowling, golf, etc.  Volunteer applications available…please contact Heather Meyer, Program Coordinator at hmeyer@greenfieldseniorliving.com  301-766-9202.
