Summer Reminder about Required Immunizations

HAGERSTOWN, MD (July 15, 2015) – Washington County Public Schools issues another reminder to parents of students entering kindergarten and 7th grade in the 2015-2016 school year, that state vaccination requirements have changed. Kindergarten students must have two doses of Varicella for chickenpox and 7th grade students must have a single dose each of the Tdap vaccine for tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis and the meningococcal vaccine for MCV. By the first day of school students will need to have proof of having received the immunizations or a documented appointment to receive the immunization by September 7, 2015 to remain in school. Once the vaccination is received, the documentation should be taken to the child’s school as soon as possible.

Needed immunizations can be obtained at the following locations:

  • Primary health care provider
  • Washington County Health Department, 1302 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown. To schedule an appointment, call 240-313-3210 and bring a copy of the child’s immunization record.
  • CVS Minute Clinic, 10 E. Wilson Blvd., Hagerstown. No appointment is needed.
  • Wal Mart Pharmacy, 17850 Garland Groh Blvd., Hagerstown. No appointment is needed.
