Smithsburg High School S.A.L.T. Program's Hunger Games Generate Donations for Food Bank

HAGERSTOWN, MD (December 17, 2019) – The Smithsburg Academic Leadership Team (S.A.L.T.) at Smithsburg High School recently conducted the school-wide Hunger Games competition, an annual event coordinated by S.A.L.T. students to raise donations of food and money for Tabitha’s Table, a community food bank in Smithsburg. This year, students raised $1,435 and 500 pounds of food that brings a seven-year total to $6,000 and 2,000 pounds of food.

The S.A.L.T. program is a leadership academy that focuses on rigorous academics while fostering the development of student leaders, while also making a positive impact on the community.
