School Staff Exploring Student Interest for Stage 3 Return

Posted September 23, 2020

Washington County Public Schools (WCPS) is grateful to have the first small groups of students successfully back in classrooms. WCPS is committed to providing safe and supportive learning environments. We appreciate the students, staff, and families who have followed established health protocols to ensure a smooth reopening of schools.

In the days ahead, school principals will be reaching out to the families of students who are eligible to return to school in stage 3 of the WCPS Return to Learn plan. This will help schools determine how many students will be attending classes in-person in stage 3, and it will allow time for both families and school staff to make appropriate arrangements.

No date is set for the start of stage 3. However, we will NOT enter stage 3 before October 12.

It is crucial that we continue to follow all health and safety guidelines, and we must take this time to make adequate preparations for the well-being of students and staff.

If your student was previously invited to return in stage 2, but you chose to continue distance learning, your child may also return when stage 3 begins. These families must make arrangements with the school in advance. If this applies to you, please contact your child's principal.

We are eager to welcome back more students once we are able to advance to stage 3. WCPS staff continues to communicate with the Washington County Health Department, and we monitor our community’s COVID-19 health metrics on a daily basis to best determine when we are able to move forward.

We will share an announcement to all school families regarding a start date for stage 3 in the near future.
