HAGERSTOWN, MD (May 6, 2019) – Washington County Public Schools (WCPS) will kick off its summer learning programs with LitFest 2019 on Wednesday, May 29, 2019 from 5 – 7 p.m. at the Center for Education Services, 10435 Downsville Pike, Hagerstown. The event is free and open to everyone. This year’s theme is, “A Galaxy of Learning,” and attendees will have the opportunity to participate in activities and experiences with a space theme. Several authors will attend and there will be coding, robotics and reading activities. Prizes and giveaways will be available throughout the event.
Partnering organizations include the Washington County Free Library and Bookmobile, Washington County Museum of Fine Arts, Books for Babies, United Way of Washington County, OnTrack Washington County, the Hagerstown YMCA and Frostburg University. Many departments within WCPS will also be represented, both instructional and non-instructional, along with the WCPS Education Foundation.
Students attending will be given a LitFest Passport upon arrival, which can be stamped at each booth the student visits. The stamped passports make the students eligible to win prizes.
In the event of rain, LitFest will be rescheduled on Monday, June 10. If rescheduling is necessary, updated information will be posted on the WCPS website (www.wcpsmd.com), Facebook page (www.facebook.com/wcpsmd) and on Twitter (@wcpsmd)
