HAGERSTOWN, MD (August 9, 2017) – Williamsport High School senior Jathan Mentzer has been recognized by the National Society of Professional Surveyors (NSPS) for earning second place honors in the 2017 Richard E. Lomax National Trig-Star Awards program. Jathan was one of 35 state level winners to advance to the national competition. A Trig-Star committee of NSPS evaluated the national examinations submitted by the state winners to determine the top three finishers. By finishing second, Jathan received a $1,000 cash award and his teacher, Susan Kaltenbaugh, received $500.

The national awards are named for Richard Lomax, a past president of NSPS, who elevated a local Trig-Star program to the national level. NSPS is based in Frederick, MD.
