Details Around Synergy Restoration Timeline Updated

Posted May 11, 2018

HAGERSTOWN, MD (May 11, 2018) - Washington County Public Schools’ (WCPS) Technology Department staff has made considerable progress towards the restoration of the Synergy Student System. Staff will be working through the weekend and next week to methodically verify, vet and finalize each section of Synergy to ensure all program functions and student information are sufficient to get the platform back online.

WCPS anticipates Synergy will be restored the week of May 14th for school staff to review student information and input new data. Staff anticipates ParentVUE will be available early in the following week, the week of May 21st.

Staff members are finalizing guidelines for 4th grading/marking period grades. While WCPS is not yet ready to provide these guidelines, please know the options for moving forward are being considered with fairness and the students’ best interest as the highest priorities.

WCPS apologizes again for the magnitude and the duration of this outage; it is an unacceptable inconvenience for our students, their parents and guardians and all of our school staff. As we work through the restoration of the Synergy system, please understand we are also identifying how this will be prevented in the future. Our WCPS servers are currently backing up to the new system, which will give us greater reliability in maintaining information and preventing a long-term outage moving forward.

We will continue to provide you updates on the progress made next week.
