BOE Seeks Additional Public Comment on Proposed Fundraising Policies

Hagerstown, MD (June 22, 2017) - The Washington County Board of Education (BOE), at its June 20, 2017 business meeting, approved the first reading to rescind existing policies on school fundraising and the first reading of three separate policies that would regulate school fundraising. Policies IGDF and JLA would be rescinded and in their place, policies JJE, KB and KBA have been proposed:

  • proposed Policy JJE, “School-Based/Student Organization Fundraising Activities,” and proposed Exhibit JJE-E, “Activity or Program Approval Form;”
  • proposed Policy KB, “Incorporated Organization Fundraising Activities,” and proposed Exhibit KB-E(1), “Activity or Program Approval Form,” proposed Exhibit KB-E(2), “Authorization/Denial of an Incorporated Organization,” proposed Exhibit KB-E(3), “Sample Financial Report,” and proposed Exhibit KB-E(4), “Suggested Agreed Upon Financial Procedures for Incorporated Organizations;” and
  • proposed Policy KBA, “Unincorporated Organization Fundraising Activities,” proposed Exhibit KBA-E(1),  “Activity or Program Approval Form,” proposed Exhibit KBA-E(2), “Authorization/Denial of an Unincorporated Organization,” proposed Exhibit KBA-E(3), “Sample Financial Report,” and proposed Exhibit KBA-E(4), “Suggested Agreed Upon Financial Procedures for Unincorporated Organizations”

The Board's Policy Committee is seeking comments from the community on the proposed policies and exhibits, which are displayed as a PDF under Documents to the right of this page.
